One for the bucket list is scuba diving. However, why Thailand you could ask. Because Thailand has some of the finest scuba diving sites in the world and due to variety of the sea life, and the range of dive sites you can dive, this makes Thailand ideal for all scuba diving levels.
Thai diving sites that may rock your world:
Hin Daeng & Hin Muang
This dive site takes a bit of travelling; nonetheless it can be done in a day, dependent on where you depart from. These are stunning dive sites, where manta rays are not an unusual sighting. There are large shoals of reef fish, beautiful corals, gorgonia and anemones, to say only some. Good buoyancy is of key importance at both these sites to ensure protection of this beautiful, but fragile ecosystem.
Koh Kraden Wreck
Another great place to test out your buoyancy is on the Koh Kraden Wreck, which can be reached from Phuket. This Japanese destroyer has turned into a home for a large range of fish, and moray eels. If you look closely, you may also find seahorses hidden by the ropes.
Hin Nok
Hin Nok is composed of a plateau and apexes with lots of channels in between. Around here you can find moray eels, moorish idols, butterfly fish, barracudas and anglefish and you may also find the odd turtle swimming around. A fascinating find here is the Ghost Pipefish, but they are also very tough to see, so keep your eyes peeled!
Koh Ma
Koh Ma is a shallower dive, but you will not be unhappy with the dive due to this, as the site offers so much more. You will find some bizarre fish here, like the shrimpfish that swims the wrong way up.
Scuba diving holidays in Thailand can be anything that you want them to be. Whether you dive for wrecks, for depth, for big fish or simply to soak up the natural wonder of the coral reefs; there actually is something for everyone. The selection of the underwater life implies each dive site, even the local sites can send you the most incredible experiences. Chumphon in Koh Tao, Thailand in the Whale Shark season is the perfect example. There are also the leopard sharks, which are always nice to see.
Thailand in itself is an experience not to be forgotten. Combine the marvelous beaches and tropical environment with diving and you actually will have a memory to savor forever, as Thailand is as stunning below the surface, as it is above it. Go once and remember forever!
