Swing Better Golf Better Dec 30

Most golfers will say the hardest part of their game is focus. Often overlooked in golf is the mental game. Ever noticed the guy who breaks 80 every single time? Why is that? Practice, they practice. What they don’t tell you, is what they practice at. When you are talking about a game that is referred to as 90% mental and 10% talent you have to work on your mental toughness. When overcoming that mental side of golf, do you try to change your equipment, the time at which you play, maybe even they guys you play with. Here are some tips that are going to help you be, the golfer, you always wanted to be.

The tempo of golf is often a distraction for golfers, you are stuck behind a slow foursome DISTRACTING or maybe the guys behind you are rushing you DISTRACTING and you feel that pressure to golf faster. Let your your tempo dictate your game! Not the tempo of the people around you. The tempo of your swing is so important; to achieve the desired results. How do I find MY tempo you ask? A golfer can find their tempo by doing these simple things:

SLOW DOWN!! I repeat slow down, everyone thinks the speed at which you swing dictates how far and accurate your ball will move. This is true is some instances, but, for the sake of this article we will not be discussing those concepts. The tempo we are going to discuss today, is going to deal with how you approach every single shot in your game, you need to have the same back swing, contact, and follow through on every swing. How are you going to practice this TEMPO? Go to the driving range and practice with one club at a time. First hit 20 range balls with your driver, next hit 20 range balls with your 9 iron, Next your 3 wood and your 8 iron follow this method until you have hit every club in your bag. In your back Swing you want to make sure you are coming to the same point every time. When you hit the ball you should be contacting at the same speed every time. People often think that the club should dictate your tempo, this could not be further from the truth. You really want to be swinging all of your clubs at the same speed, you will see great improvement on how well you make contact with the ball. Follow through is the same as your back swing you need to follow through the same on every shot. How you follow through directly affect your accuracy. When you focus on these three techniques you will find that your mental game will improve.

After the practice on the driving range is done you will want to head to the chipping green. You will want to work with your Wedge, 60deg, 8I, and 9I. Practice 100 chips with each club. When you start in the deep stuff focus on yout tempo and making sure you land every ball on the green. While working on chipping focus on your tempo, hit the ball the same every time. Remember chipping should be another tool in your arsenal and not the final result. Many careers have been made from singles and doubles hitters it is not just the home run hitters that decide how games turnout. If you can keep your mind focused on the task at hand you are going to chip and hit the green every time. The 8i and 9i will be used to work out the tempo of the bump and run technique. Tempo is still your main focus you are just using a club for a different shot, the tempo is still the same though. Block out what is going on around you and focus on your tempo!! It would be like you are still hitting one of your wedges, you change clubs not the tempo!!

Putting Putting Putting! Why is this a hard thing to understand? Now we have gone from the Driving range to the chipping green to the putting green. While practicing don’t worry about how far or where the ball goes work on keeping your tempo the same every time. You putt the same every time, you will not be changing your swing ever. The only thing about putting that changes is the distance. Start by sinking 10 putts in a row from 1ft away after you have done this, move out to 2ft, repeat until you sink 10 in a row from 10ft away. Tempo is key when you are trying to stay focused.

The goal for these exercises is to teach your to go through the same steps every time. When you are working on you tempo you need to understand that you are separating your self from the game; you are working on you. If you focus on the tempo you will see results!! The game is 90% mental; set a clock in your mind that only allows for the same tempo no matter when or where you are golfing. When your body starts to do the same thing every single time, your mind will become more focused on the task at hand.

How Do I Find the Appropriate Golf Traveling Bag Nov 02

Having your stuff organized and handy may not be the secret to better golf, but it definitely improves the golfer’s attitude. Especially if you travel with your clubs, it’s important to know that your gear is safe and sound, and that you’ve got a place for everything you need.

Golf Travel Bags and Travel Covers

With lots of makes and features to choose from, you can find the right golf travel bag and cover for your needs. Whether you’re a basic kind of golfer who just wants to make sure the clubs are secure, or if you’re one of those linksters who needs room for a cooler in your golf bag, there are a variety of durable, convenient golf travel bags to choose from.

Combos: The Easy Way

Combination golf travel bags/ carrier combos can give you the best of both worlds: because of their design may are particularly made to worry about the same as an  ordinary bag, and not only do they make for easier travel you have less overall bulk to pack with you. They can be ordered with wheels on them which makes it easier for getting around the airport or simply over to your cart. They have  many different designs ranging from sleek metal alloys to padded designs that are reinforced with cloth. If you would like the ease of using a piece of lead its that switches easily from a travel bag to a highly functional golf bag, then the right choice for you will most definitely be the combo golf travel/carrier bag.

Some golfers though have their bag set up exactly as they like it and don’t see why they would need to break everything out and repack it all for a trip. In that situation, adding a durable bag cover or case to your equipment makes a lot of sense. These are made in a simple and common sense way in that you can just put your travel bag inside of it, button it all down, and you’re ready to go. They make designs that have wheels, as well as unique designs that are designed to save space and feature “hideaway” construction that will make it easier for you to store when you’re not using it.

Think about What You Need

If you travel infrequently, it probably doesn’t make sense to spend lots of money on a travel case or high-end golf travel bag. On the other hand though, when you take into consideration how much you’ve invested into your golf gear, including your shoes, clubs, and other gear, then you probably don’t want to go cheap on protecting your investment. Take your time to check out all your options, think about how often the bag is going to be used, and make your decision from there.

Tailoring Your New Golf Swing with a Better Golf Grip Aug 11

Have you ever thought about how important your hands are when it comes to your golf game?  It’s an age old question that causes debates around the world everyday.  I’m sure you have your own opinions, but so do I.

In my opinion you have to think about the difference in the golfers you teach.  If you have a beginner in front of you who doesn’t have a solid golf grip, then you have to teach them a certain way.  If you have a professional or someone who already owns a good grip, then maybe you shouldn’t focus on their grip as much as everything else.

Those top golfers out there develop a grip that works, and allows them to work properly.  Unfortunately it just doesn’t work that way with beginners and you have to take a different approach.

A prime example is Eric Brown.  He is one of the most esteemed teachers in the game of golf.  I can’t begin to tell you about all the achievements he’s received over the years, and it makes you wonder how good he could of been if he schooled himself.  However, it’s an unorthodox golf swing.

His golfing qualities are amazing, and the way he can move into a ball is uncanny.  It starts with his right hand that is extremely underneath the shaft.  This forms a V that brings it towards the V shape that comes for your other hand.

The point is he has a swing that really no one else uses.  While this may be true, it’s the fact that he can accomplish what he does in a different way.  What it comes down to is that everyone needs their own grips that suits them.

In order to shape the new golf swing, it all starts with the golf grip.  If you find movement away from the shaft during your swing, the end result is going to be a bad one 9 times out of 10.

This is the reason it is so important that you fine tune your grip.  Seriously, it has to be corrected before we can move on to the next step.  Once you get this down then the other areas of the body can begin to take shape.  Whether it’s the feet, legs, arms, or any other part of the body.  They are all essential parts, but the hands guide them all into a sweet motion.

Unfortunately, if you don’t take this approach then the rest of the swing will fall apart.  Just keep this mind.

When you teach a proper golf grip, the correct placement on the shaft is important.  If you can master both of these areas then the hand-action won’t be an issue.

Let’s begin with the Vardon overlapping grip.  It’s where the little finger moves around the forefinger of your left hand.  When you interlock this area you will be able to bring unity to your golf grip.  It’s the first grip I teach unless one of my students have small hands.

When this happens we move to a double handed grip.

If that doesn’t work I try to push the interlocking grip.  It allows more control, but it’s probably one of the most uncomfortable grips out there.  I would recommend you have someone supervise this grip.

These all can be beneficial to your game.  Each one of them are unique in their own way, but they all have one thing in common.  They make sure you make your hands work together.  Just remember that golf is a two-handed game and your left hand should not fear the right.

In the end you can gain better technique with a good golf grip.

Learn about all of these when you’re ready to take the next step.
