Harbour Cruising has become a popular pastime today, with itineraries around the world and ports of call too numerous to count. However, even with the increasing number of seasoned cruisers throughout the United States today, the Caribbean is still one of the most frequently visited locations for this mode of travel. Caribbean cruises are in demand, and many cruise lines have answered the call by providing itineraries to the eastern, western and southern regions of these islands. Some even offer a variety of Caribbean Bahamas cruises for those who want a quick jaunt to a tropical location. With so many possibilities, it can be hard to know which Caribbean itinerary is the right one for your vacation. However, the popularity of the western Caribbean cruise has led many to this part of the tropics for a number of reasons.
Not just the Caribbean
One of the reasons that a western Caribbean cruise is so popular is that destinations are not limited to the Caribbean region. Many western Caribbean cruise itineraries will include a day at Key West, or a stop or two along the Mexican coastline. Travelers enjoy the opportunity to see more than one country on a single voyage. This variety of destinations also means that no two western Caribbean cruise itineraries are ever the same. Travelers can choose a number of cruises to this area on a number of different cruise lines and see new sights with every voyage.
Easy Embarkation
Another reason that many cruisers choose a western Caribbean cruise is that they can choose from a number of embarkation ports throughout the United States coast. While most ships will still set sail from somewhere in Florida, travelers can choose from ports in Miami all the way around the coast to Tampa. Some cruise lines will also begin a western Caribbean cruise from other southern states like Texas, Louisiana and Alabama. This gives travelers the opportunity to enjoy another area of the United States before setting off for more exotic locations.
Versatility
The most common time period for a western Caribbean cruise is seven nights, but there are other itinerary lengths available as well. The typical seven-night western Caribbean cruise is an excellent choice for cruisers who are guaranteed at least two days of relaxation while the ship is at sea. Some ports will offer extended stays so visitors can get their fill of one destination before moving on to the next. The other advantage to the western Caribbean cruise is that just about every cruise line offers this itinerary. This means travelers have an even broader choice in the type of cruise they can take.
A western Caribbean cruise is one of the most popular with travelers for a number of reasons. If this sounds like the kind of tropical vacation you are looking for, contact your travel agent or cruise line today.

If this is you, then you might want to consider last minute cruises to just get away. Mind though when we advise this that there are some matters to consider when determining on cruise vacation deals.
The first thing is to make sure you still do your homework. You could want to make sure that somebody can go with you. I know you are attempting to get away and don’t have a lot of time to plan with these last minute cruises. The thing is, if you are the only one in the room on the cruise ship, they might just charge you for that other bed that isn’t being used. So, make sure you look into this. This could save you some money even if you were taking one of these last minute cruises to flee from the idea of dealing with people.
You might also want to beware of where you go. Some Cruises Vacation Package you might have to have some documentation like a passport when you travel especially with those far away countries that people love to visit. So, if you can hold out on last minute cruises that is fine, but if you can’t and this is the only time you can go, then just make sure you look at what you will need and all that. Your best ways to assure that you are well taken care of and getting a good deal is going through a travel agent. So you have been kicking around the idea of going on a luxurious cruise for years and it’s finally come time to book your reservations. But before you make that commitment, you need to learn more about the many options you have in the choices of available cruises. You’ll have a plethora of decisions to make, starting with your destination and then taking into consideration such things as the size of the ship, the size of your cabin, the length of the voyage and of course your budget.
The major cruise lines visit about 1,800 different ports that span the globe, and not all of these ports will be places that you’ll be interested in visiting. Because there are so many destinations, the first thing to do is decide which ones hold the most interest. For instance, you can focus on Caribbean or Mexican cruises if you are looking for warmth and sunshine, or you can go for the scenery and whale watching possibilities of an Alaskan or Antarctic cruise. Once you have narrowed down the general area that you want to cruise to, then you can more easily make your final decision.
The cruise lines have a wide variety of offers for different lengths of cruises. You can get away for a long weekend for a 3- or 4-day voyage, for a week, or choose an itinerary of ten days that usually encompasses two weekends. These shorter trips are very popular and are well-suited for couples and for families.
The major cruise lines also offer longer voyages, with itineraries that span anywhere from three weeks to several months. Often these longer voyages provide opportunities to visit ports-of-call in several countries and sometimes more than one continent. Most of these longer itineraries are especially geared toward the affluent or retirees who have the time and financial freedom to be voyaging for weeks or months at a time.
Some cruise ships are referred to as “megaliners” and are so large that a person can actually get lost onboard. In fact, they are so large that they cannot even go through the Panama Canal. Cruises on megaliners can accommodate up to 2,000 passengers and provide a plethora of activities to keep passengers of all ages entertained and active. The mid-size ships are the most common and usually have up to 900 passengers, but still provide a nice variety of activities. The smaller ships are more intimate and usually accommodate less than 400 passengers.
There is also a class of cruise ships called “boutique ships,” which could be compared to luxury boutique hotels. They offer exceptional attention to service and usually have an even higher standard of gourmet food, which is saying something considering that these floating hotels are well-known for the quality and selection of fine foods.
The vast majority of cabins onboard ship are considered to be standard-size and are generally quite cozy, which helps encourage people to take advantage of the many amenities during their time aboard. Cabins with ocean views and verandas are very popular, but will cost more than an interior cabin. Many of the newer cruise ships are being designed so that virtually all of the cabins have at least a minimal exterior view and some even boast that every cabin has a veranda, albeit small ones. For cruisers with the cash, there are spacious suites, but the cost of these puts them well out of reach for the average person.

Discount Alaska cruises used to be much easier to come by. Now, such bargains are getting harder and harder to find, with demand for Alaska cruises going through the roof.
So how can you save money on your cruise? Is it even possible to visit Alaska on a budget any more? The answer is a resounding YES! You can still find great Alaska cruise deals — if you know when and where to look.
Many people assume that the best way to find discount Alaska cruises is to wait until the last minute. But while this method used to work reasonably well (and still works very well for Caribbean cruises, due to the larger number of ships in that region), it is no longer a very effective strategy for Alaskan cruises.
Alaskan ships often sell out far in advance for the months of July and August. Despite their higher cost, balcony rooms tend to be the first to sell out, especially on Holland America cruises. So if you are set on booking a balcony room in either July or August, your best bet is to book well in advance. (Alaska cruises can be booked up to 18 months ahead of their sale date.)
Of course, if you are more flexible about your sail date and/or your room category, you increase your likelihood of finding some great Alaska cruise deals.
The best months for deals are May and September, the beginning and end of the Alaska cruise season. The lowest priced Alaska cruise fares of all can be found in the very first week of the month of May, at the very start of the Alaska cruise season, when fares can be half the price of mid-summer fares.
Of course you can also save by booking a lower priced room category. Cabins located on the interior of the boat are as much as 50% to 70% less than those located on the outside of the ship. Inside rooms have no windows and can be a little smaller than ocean view rooms, but they can be a wonderful bargain, especially since many people spend so little times in their rooms anyway.
Inside rooms are definitely not for claustrophobes. Nonetheless, you can still find a great Alaskan cruise deal on an outside room. A fair number of rooms on the outside have obstructed views and are therefore labeled as such, frequently on account of a support pole or lifeboat that is blocking all or part of the field of view. These obstructed view cabins are often quite a bit cheaper than regular ocean view rooms. In fact, obstructed view cabins can be as almost as cheap as inside rooms, yet they have windows that admit sunlight and can help ease claustrophobia.
So there are still a number of ways to find discount Alaska cruises. Remember, even with rising prices, cruises still represent an incredible bargain. For less than the price of a nice hotel, they include food, entertainment, transportation, and, in Alaska, glacier viewing too.
