After recently going on one of those fancy luxury cruises myself I have come to the conclusion that going on one is simply one of the best things you could possibly do with your money. Why? The main reason behind this is that a cruise like this one not only provides everything you would expect to find on a normal holiday but adds to that on a stupidly large scale which is brilliant.

Nowhere else in the entire world are you going to find giant luxury suites with butler services, spas and training areas as well as a giant swimming pool, restaurent and bars and karoke. It is rather surprising how many different things you could do when you’re on the ship itself. I personally attended one of the fascinating educational talks about the next destination we were heading too and I can safley say that it is great to know a bit of the culture and local history before arriving as at least you do not feel like a total idiot when you arrive as you know a little about the people living there.

When I was aboard I most certainly did not think the food would match that of my America visits but my word did it, and it went down very well with a dinner time show.
There are no limits on where you can go on a luxury cruise as over the past 10-20 years destinations have grown immensely ranging from Europe to the Antarctic which is absolutely brilliant for people who either just want to look at these continents or actually go ashore and explore the small towns or the big cities that these cruise ships go to.

So save up those wages and go on a luxury cruise holiday like me and if you want advice on which one is the best to go on as there are literally hundreds all I can say is that Regent Cruises was simply fantastic an I would recommend to anyone thinking of going on a holiday like this.

I have come to the conclusion that going on one of those great luxury cruise ships is actually worth all the money as well as being a lot better than taking a plane there. But why is this?

There really is no need to turn up at the dock 4 hours before you are due to set sail as your bags are checked through quickly which is great compared to the airports.There is absolute no need to wait around waiting to get to your destination because as soon as you put one foot onto the ship you are pretty much at your hotel for the duration of your holiday.

No more will you have to wait for the seatbelt signs to flicker off before food and drink is served as this is all avalible as soon as you get aboard. Free drinks are only available on planes if you are travelling long haul with one of the expensive airlines like BA or Virgin.

The best thing about it is you actually get to have legroom which is great compared to a plane! There is no worry about legroom on a ship as you are never restricted to space, even the cheapest of rooms are spacious.

Of course if something does happen all you have to do is get into a lifeboat rather than jump down a huge inflatable slide or worse die on impact. Theres no threat of terrorism whatsoever so you can sail with one less worry! All you really need to worry about are pirates and that is only if you are near the pirate zones.

There is of course always the possibilty that a storm will occur and if that happens it won’t ruin the holiday just head downstairs for a nice dip in the pool or have a bite to eat!

I have to admit I love flying and I would never say cruise every year instead of flying to your favourite destination but going on a luxury cruise is nice every so often and with Regent Cruises (the one I went with) you are sure to have a better time than on an aeroplane.

•   Eat. Some would suggest this is a given. We need food to live right, so what’s so great about cruise food? Well they have such a large number of places to find food and such as range of styles to choice from, you will literally be spoilt for choice. Try sampling a small amount of food from all the restaurants on board to make the most of having lots of top class chefs in effectively the same building.

•    Swim. The majority of boats have more than one pool on board where you can have a splash about, swim some lengths or sunbath on a lilo. The best bit is the is nothing to block the sun so you can enjoy the pools all day long as it crosses the sky. Modern liners even boast flumes, wave machines and surfing gadgets that will keep you entertained for hours.

•    Casino. Even if you don’t know a chip from a deck, you should still take time to check out the awesome casinos. You simply cannot liken the great atmosphere you find in a casino with anywhere else and it’s always one of the best places to get to know your fellow holiday makers. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to enjoy yourself but if it’s your first time then Blackjack is a good place to start. Its easy to learn and you can make money without having to be an expert.

•    Bar. There will be a number of different bars all over the ship and some luxury cruises are all inclusive, so there is no excuse not to sample some liquid delights. The bar staff are often well travelled and will welcome a break from making martinis all day if you ask them for something exotic. Get them to suggest their favourite tipple or ask for something traditional to a country you are visiting and they will amaze you with their cocktail making skills.

•    Shows. The performers on cruise ships are often some of the best that money can buy. Set a little time aside for an evening in the theatre and you won’t be disappointed. Ask the staff around the ship for their recommendations and cruise reviews. They’ve likely seen many of the acts a number of times so can give you the insider info.
